3. Shameful World
The boy was standing on a ledge.
A life now perched upon the edge.
the clouds rolled by each window
in this city.
he had but little of a voice.
And had to make his final choice.
the sidewalks down below him
were so busy.
and so he jumped until the ground
broke his fall, sixty feet down.
He left this world without a sound.
unnoticed in this city.
they found him baked by sun and pain
drenched down by a recent rain.
His conscious he could never gain
a landmark in this city
[Chorus]
What a beautiful world this is.
What a shame it has to be like this.
What a beautiful world outside that door.
What a shame that there is nothing more.
Welcome to my life,
what are you looking for?
The boy was looking for a life
a certainty he could not find.
Each wall that read his name,
bled in this city.
He watched the changing ocean tides
and counted each wave he could find.
He left his fragile life behind,
a shadow in this city.
And on his grave there was a poem,
"A child and I died alone"
engravings written on a headstone
a stranger in this city.
[Chorus]
And on his grave there was a poem,
"A child and I died alone".
Engravings written on a headstone.
A stranger in this city.
The roses left they wilted fast.
Hours, days and weeks have passed.
But still the hearts flag sits half mast,
alone within this city
La, La, La. La, La, Etc.
